I really want to get a handle on my fibromyalgia. To do that, I realized I need to identify foods that make me feel good and foods that make me feel bad. Essential to this process is an Elimination Diet.
Methods
To start, I will track my symptoms for seven days eating normally (Control Period). During this period, I will also discontinue my suppliments (melatonin, fish oil, vitamin D). I will continue taking my birth control, Effexor, and Lyrica -- these medications would cause serious problems (withdrawl and pregnancy!) if I abruptly discontinued them.
I will follow this with a seven day Elimination Period following an elimination diet geared towards FMS patients.
Then I will begin the Re-Introduction Period. I will re-introduce one food group for one day, then follow that with two days of elimination diet. I will repeat this process until all food groups have been tested. I already know that I am sensitive to fake sugars (aspartame, sucralose, etc), potatoes, and nitrates (aged cheese), so I won't be testing these foods.
